A dental implant is the perfect aesthetic solution if you have one or more teeth missing. An implant crown can be placed where a single tooth is missing. It is made to look and feel like your own teeth, and provides stability. It also helps prevent chewing and speaking difficulties as well as teeth from shifting as a result of missing teeth.

The complete process of placing an implant crown takes several months. Thorough records, including exams, x-rays and model impressions, are taken and reviewed for your treatment plan. First, the implant will be surgically place into your jaw. It will take several months to heal and attach itself to the jaw bone.

Once healed, we will place an abutment (a post or an extension) to the implant and let the tissue heal around it. This serves as the foundation for your new tooth. The last step of the process involves attaching a crown to the implant. This crown will be the same size, shape and color as your other teeth.

It is important to care for your dental implants just as you do your natural teeth. By brushing and flossing daily - and seeing your dentist every six months – you can extend the longevity of your implant.
